Factories and Industrial
Undertakings Ordinance (Cap.59) The
Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the related subsidiary regulations
are the principal legislation in Hong Kong to provide for the safety and health
protection to workers in the industrial sector, including factories, catering
establishments, construction sites, cargo and container handling areas, repair
workshops and other industrial workplaces.

of workplaces and construction works

notify the Commissioner for Labour of -
the location, the name of notifiable workplace(1)
and the nature of industrial process or industrial operation carried out thereon
-
any change in the location or name of notifiable workplace(1)
and the nature of industrial process or industrial operation carried out thereon
-
the
identity of the person who manages or controls the workplace |

notify the Commissioner for Labour (after the commencement of any construction
work) of | (1)
A notifiable workplace means - -
any factory, mine or quarry; and
-
any premises or place at which a dangerous trade or scheduled trade is carried
on or is proposed to be carried on
but does not include a
construction site within the meaning of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations.

comply with the first aid procedures and first aid items required under relevant
regulations for various trades |

take adequate fire precautions including the provision of fire fighting equipment
